Group Disability Insurance

Learn the basics about Group Disability Insurance
and why you may want to provide this benefit to your employees
Group disability insurance can be a valuable benefit to offer your employees.  If one of your employees is sick, injured, or pregnant and unable to work in the same capacity as before, the employee may suffer a loss of income.  Group disability insurance is designed to replace some or all of that lost income.

The contract language between different carriers can make a difference at time of claim. Subtle nuances in the definition of total or partial disability can mean the difference between an employee receiving income benefits or not.

Let us help guide you in implementing a group disability plan.  With our experience in designing and implementing these types of benefit plans, you can be confident that we will help you clearly understand your options.

Group Long-Term Disability

Designed to replace lost income over long periods of time, generally up to Social Security Normal Retirement Age (SSNRA).

Due to the long time horizon of claims and potential liability to the insurance carrier, these are typically more complicated than short-term disability plans.

We know what language is in the best interest of the claimant, and will make sure the strongest contract language is a part of your plan.

Have an existing LTD plan?  We can benchmark it and ensure that it's still competitive.  Ask us for an example of our bench-marking process.

Group Short-Term Disability

Designed to replace lost income for short-term periods of time, typically between 30 and 180 days.

Though typically less complicated than long-term disability contracts, there are still several variables that must be considered when designing your plan.  Short-Term Disability insurance typically integrates with state-mandated disability plans and workers compensation.

We thoroughly compare different carriers' contracts and help you understand your plan options.

NYS Disability

This coverage is mandated by New York State to be provided for all employees.  This insurance will provide benefits for off-the-job injuries.  We can also help you administer this benefit and guide you through the process should a claim arise.
